Burl is not grain: it is the tree's response to stress, a knot of interrupted growth that produces the rippling, three-dimensional figure Tamo is collected for. It cannot be cultivated or cut to order and only becomes available once the tree has died naturally, so every panel is chosen from material the atelier has already set aside. The surface in front of you exists once; the next Tamo humidor will not look like it. This desk-sized Diamond brings that material presence to a smaller footprint.

THE CRAFT

Boveda packs handle the humidity in both directions — releasing moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level rises — so it stays flat rather than cycling. There is no water and no calibration: the packs are replaced when they stiffen, typically every two to four months. The Diamond opens from the front on a drawer cut from solid oak, running on a Blumotion soft-close mechanism rather than lifting on a hinge: a lid releases most of the conditioned air in one movement, while a drawer keeps the bulk of it inside and the humidity recovers in minutes. Solid timber rather than veneered panel means the front will not lift or bubble over years of humid air on one face and dry room air on the other. Interior lined in Okoumé.

SPECIFICATIONS

• Size: H 15 cm × L 50 cm × D 36 cm • Weight: 15 kg net • Material: Tamo, solid oak drawer front, Okoumé interior • Capacity: 80 Toro cigars (approx. 90 Robusto), varies with ring gauge • Humidification: Boveda system • Blumotion soft-close drawer • Made in Italy • Made to order: allow 4–6 weeks from the atelier plus transit to Canada • Includes luxury fabric packaging and presentation box

WHO THIS IS FOR

• A desk, a shelf or a favourite corner of the room • Someone who smokes regularly and keeps two or three boxes moving • A first serious humidor, matched to a Litolite table lighter or ashtray • A gift with real weight to it

CARE

Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun — above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar.
