MANOPOULOS - GREEK MYTHOLOGY METAL CHESSMEN

HANDCRAFTED IN GREECE
Manopoulos has made games in Greece since 1970 — from Costas Manopoulos’s first bronze chess pieces to today’s workshop in Thebes, where every board is still cut, veneered and finished by hand. This piece comes to Canada exclusively through El Laguito Cigars.

SHIPS FROM CANADA — NO DUTIES, NO SURPRISES
Dispatched by El Laguito Cigars from Mississauga, Ontario, and priced in Canadian dollars. We import directly from the Manopoulos workshop, so there are no duties, brokerage or customs fees at your door. Each piece is made to order in Thebes: please allow approximately 25 days for production, plus 7–10 days for delivery within Canada.

THE DESIGN
The contest between Poseidon and Athena for the city that became Athens, cast in metal: the king is modelled on the Poseidon of Melos, the queen on the Athena Promachos, the knights on the Parthenon frieze by Pheidias, and the pawns on bronze hoplites of 500 BC. Sold as chessmen only, to set on a board you already own.

THE CRAFT
Cast in metal and finished by hand in Greece, where Manopoulos began with metal chessmen in 1970.

IN THE BOX
32 metal chessmen. Chessmen only — board not included.
