Every Geoffrey Parker piece is hand made to order in the company's Essex workshops. Lead time is approximately 8–12 weeks for production, plus about 1 week for shipping to Canada; waiting times lengthen before Christmas. Larger orders may arrive in more than one shipment.
THE DESIGN
A skilfully hand-bound leather scalloped-sided plinth for Geoffrey Parker's traditional Staunton chess sets, in Dauphin leather or exotic Water Snake. The playing pieces are stowed beneath the chessboard, which pivots up to give access. Plinth size 635 × 635 × 102 mm (25" × 25" × 4").
THE CRAFT
There is no better playing set than the fabled Staunton design, originated by Howard Staunton in 1849 and updated in 1861 — designed by a champion and de rigueur for championship play ever since. Choose the Championship 4.4" King set in Boxwood and Ebony (or Rosewood), suede lined; the Spassky & Fischer 3.5" set in Boxwood and Ebony with gold-embossed bases; or the Club 3.75" Boxwood set, felt lined.
