JOHNSTONS OF ELGIN - LOFTY TWILL THROW

WOVEN IN SCOTLAND SINCE 1797
Johnstons of Elgin has made cloth beside the River Lossie in Elgin since 1797, and is one of the few houses that still takes fibre from raw material to finished piece in its own Scottish mills. It holds Royal Warrants to His Majesty The King and to Her Majesty The Queen.

THE DESIGN
A herringbone twill flecked with colour, giving the throw scale and texture without weight.

THE CRAFT
Pure cashmere — the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat — dyed, spun and woven in the Johnstons of Elgin mill, where colour is engineered in the house dyehouse before the fibre is spun. Selected pieces are finished by hand in the Elgin atelier.
