Bosquet-Paris was born in 1996 at À La Civette, the historic tobacconist of the Palais-Royal, where aficionados wanted a case sized to the cigar rather than the pocket. An independent maison led by Emmanuel Lesur, it now designs cigar cases, desktop humidors, cutters and exotic leather goods between Paris, London and Miami, with a showroom at 231 rue Saint-Honoré.
Every case is handcrafted in Paris by skilled artisans: three plies — leather, a rigid carton structure and a leather lining — with the leather flattened thin, tapered borders stitched on one side only, a vegetal-tanned lining and the signature stamped in 22-carat gold. In Canada the collection comes in full-grain calf leather, crocodile, ostrich and stingray — skins from tanneries in Italy, Spain and France, with every exotic skin CITES-certified.
A Bosquet case is not sewn around the cigar; it is built. A leather exterior is laid over a carton structure made rigid by a traditional process of bathing and drying, then finished with a leather lining; the leather is flattened until each layer is very thin, then the borders are tapered so the stitching, kept to one side only, stays fine and discreet. The interior is lined in natural, plant-extract tanned leather: a smooth, breathable surface that lets a cigar slide out without catching the wrapper, leaves no chemical odour and develops its patina over the years. Stitching is polyester, over-stitched with a rubber coating.
