In 1730 Juan Famenias Floris, newly arrived from Menorca, opened a shop with his wife Elizabeth in St James’s, London, selling perfume, combs and shaving goods. Almost three centuries later, 89 Jermyn Street is still run by his descendants — the Bodenham family, now in its ninth generation — and Floris remains England’s oldest independent family perfumer.
The shop keeps its Spanish mahogany cabinets bought at the Great Exhibition of 1851, and its ledgers record orders from Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill (Special No. 127), Ian Fleming (No. 89, named in Moonraker) and Marilyn Monroe (Rose Geranium). The fragrances are still composed in London; the soaps are still hand-wrapped at the house’s Devon workshop.

Every Floris fragrance is composed in London by the house perfumer, working from formulae recorded in ledgers kept since the eighteenth century — the Ledger Series revived eight of them. The Signature Series eaux de toilette are light and easy to wear; the Private Series eaux de parfum are more concentrated and longer lasting.
For corporate gifting, a wedding party or simply a bottle you cannot find in Canada, El Laguito Cigars handles the order, the import and delivery anywhere in the country.
