THE DESIGN
Nero Belgio — Belgian black — is a rich black marble celebrated since the seventeenth century for a depth of colour that furnished European palaces. This piece is left with a natural split face, the marble's raw, quarry-cut texture set directly against its polished bowl. It is the most hand-worked piece in the collection: split by hand the way the old stonemasons worked, with every finishing pass done entirely by hand, so no two are ever alike.
THE CRAFT
The stone is split by hand, the way the old stonemasons worked, and every finishing pass is done entirely by hand, so the rugged split faces meet a smooth polished hollow with no two pieces ever alike. That contrast, raw against refined, is the whole character of the object.
THE RITUAL
Sized for company: a 20 cm bowl with extra rests for more than one cigar at a time, ideal for a shared smoke among friends. At 5 kg it stays absolutely planted on the table, and the deep hollow keeps ash and stubs well below the rim. Marble is the right material for the job beyond looks: it takes a lit cigar set down mid-smoke without scorching, and it does not hold odour between sessions the way ceramic and wood do.

CARE
Clean the polished bowl with a soft, barely damp cloth only — acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently. The split faces are meant to stay raw and need no treatment. Handmade from natural materials: expect gentle variation in veining and tone from the photograph.
