THE DESIGN

A lasting tribute to the Swedish diplomat who saved an estimated 100,000 Jewish lives in Budapest in 1944. A Schutz-Pass bearing Wallenberg's likeness and signature is featured in low relief on the cap, the Star of David in high relief on the back of the crown, and the clip represents the winding, dangerous road of escape with three doves in flight at its base. The Swedish Triple Crown sits at the base of each barrel; one barrel carries a repeating Star of David motif inspired by the Dohány Synagogue windows, the other Wallenberg's signature and his famous words "För mig finns inget annat val". This roller ball is finished in Blue & White with polished .925 sterling silver.

THE CRAFT

Hand-crafted from .925 sterling silver. Each component passes through multiple stages of precision engraving to create the guilloché pattern, then hard enamel — glass, water and metal oxides ground by hand with a mortar and pestle — is applied with a quill, kiln-fired at over 1,000 °F, filed back by hand with a diamond file and fired again until the enamel fills every valley of the engraving. The pieces are then polished and buffed to the velvet finish of true translucent hard enamel. A five-year apprenticeship is required to master the process.

THE COLLECTION

The Raoul Wallenberg Collection is the 29th in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Every piece is individually numbered. Each colour variation is limited to 100 pieces, one for every thousand lives saved.

THE WRITING

The roller ball version of the collection — the same sterling silver, guilloché and hard-enamel body as the fountain pen, with a capped roller ball section that takes a standard roller ball refill for an effortless, consistent line.
