Nero Marquina is a deep black marble quarried in the Basque Country of northern Spain, prized since the early 20th century for the fine white veining that runs like lightning through its dark body — a favourite of Art Deco designers and a benchmark for bold interiors today. This desk-sized Diamond brings that material presence to a smaller footprint.
THE CRAFT
Twenty kilos of marble do something a wooden humidor cannot: they resist temperature change. A room that warms three degrees over an afternoon moves the interior of a thin-walled box almost immediately, whereas here the stone absorbs most of that swing before it reaches the cigars. Since temperature stability is what protects tobacco over years of ageing, the weight is the specification rather than a side effect of it. Boveda packs handle the humidity in both directions — releasing moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level rises — so it stays flat rather than cycling. There is no water and no calibration: the packs are replaced when they stiffen, typically every two to four months. The Diamond opens from the front on a drawer cut from solid oak, running on a Blumotion soft-close mechanism rather than lifting on a hinge: a lid releases most of the conditioned air in one movement, while a drawer keeps the bulk of it inside and the humidity recovers in minutes. Solid timber rather than veneered panel means the front will not lift or bubble over years of humid air on one face and dry room air on the other. Interior lined in Okoumé.

CARE
Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun — above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar. Clean the marble with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently. Handmade from natural materials: expect gentle variation in veining and tone from the photograph.
