THE DESIGN

White ebony is one of the rarer members of the ebony family. Where most ebony is prized for being nearly black, this variety is known for the opposite: a pale, cream-white body threaded with dark, contrasting streaks. It is normally worked into small objects — knife scales, inlay, instrument parts — because clean material in large, consistent panels is hard to find, so a humidor faced in it with the streaking running coherently across the front is a sourcing achievement before it is a woodworking one. In a pale interior it settles into the furniture; in a dark one it becomes the object everyone asks about. This desk-sized Diamond brings that material presence to a smaller footprint.

THE CRAFT

Boveda packs handle the humidity in both directions — releasing moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level rises — so it stays flat rather than cycling. There is no water and no calibration: the packs are replaced when they stiffen, typically every two to four months. The Diamond opens from the front on a drawer cut from solid oak, running on a Blumotion soft-close mechanism rather than lifting on a hinge: a lid releases most of the conditioned air in one movement, while a drawer keeps the bulk of it inside and the humidity recovers in minutes. Solid timber rather than veneered panel means the front will not lift or bubble over years of humid air on one face and dry room air on the other. Interior lined in Okoumé.

CARE

Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun — above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar. A soft, dry cloth is all the wood needs, with no polish and no solvents. Handmade from natural materials: expect gentle variation in grain and tone from the photograph.
