THE LEATHER

Top-grade croc-embossed vegetable-tanned leather, free of chemicals, made in Spain by Jemar of Bilbao. Jemar has been making smoker's articles there since the house was founded, and every case is finished and boxed individually.

THE CRAFT

Jemar uses only top-grade 100% vegetable-tanned leather, free of chemicals — the only leather that can be moulded without deforming. The pieces are die-cut, skived to the right thickness for soft edges and joined with water-based glue. Then comes the most important step: the assembled case is soaked to soften the leather and shaped entirely by hand in a made-to-measure mould, using tools carved from ash wood — the same methods Jemar's artisans inherited from their predecessors. After drying, each case returns to the mould to restore its shine and finish the edge detailing; the edges are hand-painted and burnished, and every piece is inspected before it is boxed individually.
