Manopoulos has made games in Greece since 1970 — from Costas Manopoulos’s first bronze chess pieces to today’s workshop in Thebes, where every board is still cut, veneered and finished by hand. This piece comes to Canada exclusively through El Laguito Cigars.

THE DESIGN
A limited-edition board that shows what the Thebes workshop can do with veneer: wenge, mahogany and walnut laid up with mother-of-pearl elements, on a 48 × 30 cm case with side racks for the checkers.

THE CRAFT
Handcrafted inlaid veneer work from the Manopoulos workshop in Thebes, finished by hand and fitted with brass-finish hardware. Produced in small numbers.
