About this collection

The Carl Linnaeus collection honours Sweden's most celebrated natural scientist, known as the Prince of Botanists and, to Swedish children, the Flower King. His two-name binomial system for classifying plants and animals, set out in works such as Systema Naturae and Species Plantarum, remains the foundation of modern botanical nomenclature.

Inspired by his many great works, the design is filled with plant and floral elements, a reminder of the great scientist's love for nature. Multi-coloured blossoms and leaves flourish across a translucent ground of blue, black or red.

The collection features multiple levels of guilloché engraving and seven colours of hard enamel, each layer applied by quill, fired at over 1,000°F and hand-filed with a diamond file until the pattern is filled, then polished to a velvet finish. The red variation is finished in gold vermeil.

The Collection — The 19th in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in three primary colour variations, each limited to an aggregate production of 70 pieces, fountain pen and roller ball combined, honouring seventy years of Linnaeus's work.
