About this collection

Valhalla, the “Hall of the Slain,” was the Viking Otherworld where fallen warriors feasted and fought under the rule of the Nordic Trinity of Odin, Thor and Frey. The Valhalla Collection honours this enduring mythology, with each colour variation dedicated to one of the three gods.

The design depicts a rune stone and longship in high relief over wave and granite patterns. A serpent in high relief winds across the cap, carrying a poem of Odin, patron god of poetry, which reads in runic script: “he who would read the sacred runes is wise to waste no words.” A smaller serpent motif is engraved across the granite surface.

In contrast to the crude art of the Viking age, the collection is rendered in three levels of guilloché and three colours of translucent and opaque hard enamel, finished in rhodium or gold vermeil. Its 18-karat gold nib, engineered in Heidelberg, Germany, is rhodium-plated and iridium-tipped.

The Collection — The ninth in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in three colour variations, Odin, Thor and Frey, each limited to 88 pieces, fountain pen and roller ball combined.
