The Edwin Hubble collection honours the astronomer who expanded the universe. Working at the Mount Wilson Observatory, Hubble showed that other galaxies exist beyond the Milky Way and that they are moving away from us, a discovery that gave rise to Hubble's Law and transformed our understanding of the cosmos.
Elliptical orbits are engraved across the body, while Planet Earth glows in blue enamel atop the crown and a cabochon moonstone, representing the Moon, crowns the telescope clip. The cap depicts Asteroid 1373 Cincinnati, discovered by Hubble in 1935, over radio waves cut in low relief; the barrel shows the Milky Way as a swirling spiral on a sunburst, wrapped by the Hubble tuning-fork sequence and accompanied by nebulae. The Hubble Crater appears at the end of the barrel, and the gripping section bears his signature and the words "The Universe is unfolding as it should."
Each piece is crafted from sterling silver and hot enamel. The collection was named Best Cultural/Historical Theme Pen of the Year in the 2025 Pen World Readers' Choice awards.
The Collection — The 40th in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Offered as fountain pen or roller ball, each of the five primary colour variations is limited to 63 pieces, honouring the 63 years of Hubble's life.
