About this collection

The Romanov dynasty's 304-year reign, from 1613 to 1917, gave the world some of its most celebrated treasures, including the Imperial Eggs and the objets d'art of Peter Carl Fabergé and his goldsmiths. The Russian Imperial collection marks the 100th anniversary of the Romanov family's abdication and pays tribute to the artistry of that era.

The cap and barrel feature repeating guilloché sunbursts overlaid with interlocking double-leaf ornament, recalling the Coronation Egg created for the 1896 coronation of Nicholas II. Two double-headed eagles adorn the gripping section, the clip is ornamented with three pairs of floral rosettes, and Cyrillic lettering encircles the cap ring.

Crafted from solid sterling silver, the body is finished in hard enamel, built up through repeated kiln firings and hand-filing to a velvet translucent finish, with opaque black paired with sky blue, ruby, emerald or sapphire.

The Collection — The 28th in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in four primary colour variations, each limited to an aggregate production of 304 pieces, one for each year of the Romanov reign.
