Harlequin follows David Oscarson's 2005 Pierrot and Pierrette edition, completing the trio from the Italian Commedia dell'arte. He is the witty, daring character who steals Pierrette's heart, his patched costume sewn from the remnants of richer ones and his creativity carrying him through a world that is constantly against him.
The Art Deco design is engraved in stages: the body is first cut down to a sunburst background, leaving the outlines and centres of interlocking diamonds in high relief, before the sunburst pattern is engraved around them. Three VVS-1 diamonds of .016 carats each are set in the top of the crown, the base of the barrel and the clip.
Hand-crafted from 18-karat gold and .925 sterling silver, each piece combines multiple levels of guilloché with translucent and opaque hard enamels; the Ruby Red and Emerald Green versions are finished in gold vermeil. The fountain pen carries an 18-karat gold nib engineered in Heidelberg, Germany, rhodium-plated and iridium-tipped, with a filling system accepting cartridge, converter or eyedropper fill.
The Collection — The 16th in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in five colour variations, each limited to 88 pieces, fountain pen and roller ball combined.
