Carl Milles was among Sweden's most celebrated 20th-century sculptors, and his fountain The Marriage of the Waters in St. Louis symbolizes the meeting of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. The collection marks David Oscarson's wedding anniversary to his wife Veronica, who created all of its line art, as well as the company's 20th anniversary, linking the family's home in St. Louis with Milles' Stockholm.
Atop the cap, in translucent white enamel, is the symbol of the St. Louis city flag, depicting the two rivers converging. At the base of the barrel sits the symbol of Stockholm's city flag, joining the two cities as Milles' fountain did. His signature is engraved on the gripping section.
Uniquely, two colours of hot enamel merge without the silver border normally needed between them, flowing over a meandering, double-lined diamond-cut guilloché pattern that evokes merging currents. Select variations are finished in gold vermeil.
The Collection — The 32nd in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in four design variations, each limited to 80 pieces, fountain pen and roller ball combined, honouring the 80 years of Milles' creative life.
